The movie Shokiwala is about a pampered youth, without any job or income, who wants to love girls like how Sri Krishna did in Dwapara Yuga.

Let us analyse

The movie begins with a concerned mother (Aruna Balaraj) and her husband (Nagaraj Murthy) carrying blood-stained clothes of their son Krishna (Ajay Rao) to a police station and seeking police help to nab the killers. Prathap (Pramod Shetty) asks the parents to tell him about their son. At this juncture, the director introduces a flashback scene and explains how Krishna, accompanied by a few parasites, used to antagonize many parents for insisting their daughters to fall in love with him. Later, the director tells us how Radha (Sanjana Anand), the daughter of Narasimhe Gowda (Sharath Lohitashwa) falls in love with Krishna. Will Narasimhe Gowda accept Krishna as his son-in-law is the climax.

Artistes’ performance:

Ajay Rao once again fails to live up to the expectations of movie buffs. It is quite disappointing to note that he is yet to learn a lesson even after the disaster of his recent movie Love You Rachchu. If he continues to accept this type of movies that have no logic, it will be difficult for him to retain his status or position in Sandalwood. Sanjana Anand looks beautiful but she has to go a long way to establish herself as a heroine. Sharath Lohitashwa, as a villain, is convincing. Pramod Shetty, Aruna Balaraj, Tabala Naani provided good support..

A song – Jeevana Onthara Cocktail – in which four directors Nanda Kishore, Hari Santosh, Shashank, Nagendra Prasad and KGF music director Ravi Basrur shake a leg along with Ajay Rao.

There are a few unnecessary action and unconvincing emotional scenes. Tabla Nani’s dialogues and acting are far from convincing.

The shooting of this movie was held in and around Mandya. It is quite unfortunate to see director Rocky still believes in the formula of three to four action scenes, two or three songs and a few sentiment scenes to make a movie. It is not clear how many producers will come forward to make movies with Rocky in the near future. Producer TR Chandrasekhar has also failed miserably in selecting the right script and right person to handle the megaphone. The main drawback of Shokiwala is the weak script.

Bottom-line: It is worth watching if you have no other option to spend your leisure time.
