Bengaluru, Feb. 10: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said that classes for students up to 10th standard will resume from Monday, while the classes for PU and Degree Colleges would commence at a later date.
“It is the responsibility of the government to maintain law and order in the state. I have convened a high-level meeting with ministers, deputy commissioners and other officials. A direction will be given after reviewing the situation at districts. I am in touch with home minister and education minister. I have directed senior officials to be in touch with officials at district and taluks,’’ Basavaraj Bommai said.
The decision was taken following a meeting of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai with Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, Higher Education minister C N Ashwath Narayan, and Primary and Secondary Education minister B C Nagesh.
The Chief Minister has said that all measures would be taken to maintain peace and education till the High Court deliver its decision on hijab issue. He said the government would take all measures to ensure no violence when the schools are reopened.
