A poster for the forthcoming movie I am R was launched by Sudeep on Saturday evening during a star-studded event held at The Lalit Ashok. Ram Gopal Varma is assigned to helm I am R, Super Star Upendra plays the lead role in this action movie. The movie I am R is the second movie in Kannada for Ram Gopal Varma. The other movie was Killing Veerappan that was released in 2016.

Wishing good luck to the cast and crew of I am R, Sudeep has said that felt betrayed after coming to the venue. “I wonder why I am not included in the star cast of this movie being made by two great people. Upendra made me an actor while I was contemplating becoming a director. Ram Gopal Varma introduced me to Bollywood. I am sure of both these great people coming with a great movie. I am familiar with producer Raj Yajaman but I know about his family’s contribution to Kannada film industry after watching a promo here,’’ said Sudeep.

Speaking on the occasion, director Ram Gopal Varma has said that he would be very happy to work with Upendra who has already earned name and fame as an actor and as a director. “I do not want to reveal the meaning of I am R at this juncture. I will reveal the meaning during the trailer launch of this movie,’’ said Ram Gopal Varma.

Stating that it is a pleasure to work with Ram Gopal Varma, Super Star Upendra said that he was in a dilemma whether or not to make Kannada movie Om after watching Telugu movie Shiva. “I had to make changes to the script of Om,’’ said Upendra, adding that the Kannada movie I am R is based on a real life incident.

He said producer Raj Yajaman acted in Kannada movie Upendra. “Raj Yajaman played the character of Damini’s husband,’’ he said.

Raj Yajaman’s grand-father and father produced Kannada movies such as Bhale Raja, Premada Kanike, Sakshatkara.
