The movie Garuda is about counterfeit currency notes and drug mafia.
Let us analyse
The movie takes considerable time to take off. It takes most part of the pre-intermission session to make audiences know what the plot is about. The movie begins with Ram (Sidharth Mahesh), Anu (Aindrita Ray), Shankaranna (Rangayana Raghu) and a few others maintaining a hotel in Goa for livelihood. Anu, fostered by Shankaranna, falls in love with Ram. She thinks that Ram is a coward and has no courage to counter anti-social elements. However, she happens to witness Ram thrashing a few drug addicts. She demands Shankaranna to tell her the truth about Ram. At this juncture, the director narrates how Vikram alias Ram was preparing for IPS exam and how happened to encounter Kalinga’s (Adi Lokesh) followers. And how Vikram’s elder brother Sampath Kumar (Srinagara Kitty), an Assistant Commissioner of Police, encourages him to help police to nab drug suppliers. What happens to Vikram and whether he will marry his sweetheart Priya (Ashika Ranganath) is the climax.
Artistes’ performance:
Sidharth Mahesh, who wrote the script, apart from acting as one of the heroes, is convincing. He is very good in stunt sequences because of his physique and height. As far as love and emotional scenes are concerned, he has to hone up his acting skills to get appreciation from the audiences. This is his second movie in Sandalwood. The other movie was Sipaayi that was released in 2016. Srinagar Kitty, as a police officer and an affectionate brother, has acted well. Aindrita, Ashika Ranganath, Kamna Jethmalani have added value and glamour. Rangayana Raghu, Adi Lokesh, Mico Nagaraj provided good support.
Highlights:
Action scenes are superb. Cinematographer Jai Anand has captured the beauty of Goa. Raghu Dixit's music is very good. The song – Mad For You – sung by Aishwarya Rangarajan is full of rhythm.
Drawbacks:
The duration of this movie will test your patience. Director takes his own time to focus on the plot of the movie. Comedy scenes between Aindrita Ray and Sujay Shastry are nauseating and irritating.
Analysis
Director Dhanakumar should have avoided most of the scenes between Aindrita Ray, Siddarth Mahesh and a few comedians. These scenes are not only a burden on the audiences but also on the producer of this movie. He tried his best to convey a message on the ill-effects of drugs and counterfeit currency notes. It is not clear why the director included so many actors and actresses in this movie. Many of the scenes are full of actors. The consolation is introducing songs at frequent intervals to break the monotony.
Bottom-line: It is worth watching for those who love action dramas.
