Khata melas should be organized in the apartments which are out of the property tax net for bringing them under the property tax slab.
20 such apartments should be identified in the city to organize Khata melas as a pilot project soon, the BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta instructed the officials.
Addressing a virtual meeting with Bangalore Apartments’ Federation (BAF), on Saturday, on property tax, he said that property tax is the main source of income of BBMP.
Officials should move forward to collect more property tax. Steps should be taken to bring the properties that remain out of the property tax net under the same.
Khata-making power has been decentralized with zones to ensure quick khata processes in the city.
Property tax in maximum will flow into BBMP when more properties will come under the property tax net.
For that, the properties not having khatas should be identified and khatas should be made, the chief commissioner instructed the officials.
Every property within an apartment should possess a similar Khata, the Revenue officials should take steps to ensure this, he said
